An article that I read was an article on building flashpoints in the upcoming Star Wars the Old Republic game. This new game is to be a mmorpg and flashpoints in the game are challenges that multiple players can take on to try and see if they can complete the flashpoint for a the fun of it. When the team that creates flashpoint starts to create their flashpoints they always start on the drawing board where they discuss some ideas and see what can work and what cannot work. Once that has happened they then work on the environment of the flashpoint and work on what is more visually appealing to the player and what can work with the mission. The combat during a flashpoint also differs from being a huge open world combat to closed combat. Flashpoints are different than running dungeons in any other mmo because during a flashpoint it is more story based instead of running a dungeon to try and get better gear for your character.
